In 2005 the KRFMP decided to help make fishing access easier at Greenbelt County Park. The program created an 8 car parking lot adjacent to Piedra Road and cleared a walking trail from the parking lot to the river. The riparian property was little known and often difficult to access via dirt road. Fishing regulations signs were placed in river access areas and the County owned park became much more accessible to the public for fishing, walking and viewing the Native grinding stones.
